Soumya Shankar Ghosal is a Kolkata-based street and docuentary photographer whose work has been widely published at National Geographic.com, National Geographic Traveller India, Lonely Planet, Sigma, Fujifilm India, CNN Travel, The Times of India, Better Photography, and The Telegraph amongst many others. Soumya’s imaging clients include corporations such as IBM, Amazon.com, Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, Vivo, and Asian Photography Magazine amongst many others.

In 2017, StreetHunters placed him in their “20 most influential street photographers” list. He was also invited by Facebook to curate Instagram’s first official photo exhibition in India. Soumya’s work has been included in prominent books such as — Calcutta Then Kolkata Now, India 5 Senses, and World Street Photography.

Soumya is the recipient of the 2019 Sahapedia Frames Grant, Silver Medal at the Eyewin International Photography Awards 2018, HIPA 8th Season Finalist award, and winner of numerous other competitions held by Nikon, Fujifilm, and Olympus. Read here for his full bio.
